I'm Madhav Sethi, and this is where I think out loud about the world and the markets that price it — geopolitics, finance, gold, macro and metals, and whatever else is worth working through.
The day job is the unfair advantage. For the last three years I've worked in jewellery retail, which means I watch the gold market — and the macro cross-currents that move it: interest rates, the rupee, import duties, global risk appetite — play out in real transactions every day, not just on a chart. Seeing how gold and its macro headwinds and tailwinds actually land, at the counter, is what this blog is built on.
Before that I spent half a decade at Google and three years in startups, and I studied at the Indian School of Business (ISB), one of India's leading business schools. I read widely and obsessively — Peter Zeihan on geopolitics, the Financial Times on more or less everything — and the writing here is where I test what I'm reading against what I'm seeing.
The aim is sourced, plain-English analysis: what happened, why it matters, and what would change the read. Every piece links its primary sources.
I also build things — games, tools, and experiments — over at madhavsethi.com.
New writing lands here; subscribe via RSS, browse by topic, connect on LinkedIn, or reach me at madhavsethiwork@gmail.com.
